Please let me know how I can start up a petition for the passage of this bill. HRBill2002

I retired 1 year ago after 24 years in the Air Force and unfortunately did not transfer my GI Bill to my children.

Is there any update on the HR1130 Bill. I retired 1 March 2005 after 27.5 years of active duty, and am looking forward to the opportunity to transfer my Post 9/11 GI Bill to my wife.

Thanks

Comment on "Gates Urges Senate to Support TRICARE Fee Increases and Annual Indexing to Civilian Health Care Increases" article.

For more than 10 years I watched as my disabled wife (who was on Social Security due to Muscular Dystrophy) looked forward to getting some extra money in her benefit with the COLA only to have all but three or four bucks taken away from the raise by the rising cost of the medicare increase. It was disheartening to see her so disappointed each time. She passed away last year so that ends her disappointment.

Now I understand plans are to tie Tricare premium increases to the medical index (but also to the COLA we might recieve.) This looks to me like all future COLA increases will simply go to paying more for the "Free medical care" I was promised when I joined up with the military in 1974. Guess I'd better take some wisdom from my late wife's experiences and get used to being disappointed while everyone including the pest control folks raise the cost of living.

No, as of right now you will only draw VA pay depending on your rating. I dont think this act is in the DOD budget right now. I medically retired at 19 years and hope it passes, but dont let ANYONE tell you that you will get concurrent receipt until it is signed into law!

Hello Jarret, I'm sorry I am not very familiar with the compensation laws in cases such as yours. Usually, the process begins with contacting your VA. Service agencies such as the VFW, AMVETS, or the American Legion can better assist you and represent you through these proceedings. I believe, but am not certain, that you should be able to draw both a medical retirement and VA Disability, but they can guide you through that process better than I. I wish you the best of luck getting a rapid answer to your question and thanks for serving your country with honer and distinction!

Bruce-

We just created a pretty comprehensive local and national site on military discounts. Please have your folks take a look and if it meets AFSA standards, feel free to share with your members.

http://www.militaryandveteransdiscounts.com

Also, we ranked cities on military discounts per capita: http://www.militaryandveteransdiscounts.com/blog/top-40-cities-for-military-discounts

Thanks

Need help going for a fit for duty board. I only have 17 years of active service in the army and have been diagnosis of type II diabetes and on medications to control. I also has a L5 injury from a wreck that was in line of duty. Can I receive a medical retirement and VA disability pay at the same time. I need to know what my options are before I put myself over a barrel.
