Division 3/4/5 Convention 2012

The Divisions 3/4/5 Convention Planning Committee has assembled a great package for the 1st Joint 3/4/5 Divisions Convention. The management and staff of the Holiday Inn Express have been very cooperative and helpful in assisting us to come up with a fine package that includes reasonable room rates and meal costs. The resort is located just west of Historic Savannah, Georgia.

67th Anniversary of D-Day!

Tomorrow is Monday, June 6th.  I can see someone right now saying “So what is significant about that date?”  It is the 67th Anniversary  of D-Day, revered as the greatest invasion in history and the turning point of World War II.  On June 6th, 1944, the United States and it’s allies invaded Nazi occupied France. More than 150,000 troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. They fought fiercely and ultimately were part of the effort to end the war.  I realize that time has caused us to decline in interest, but we should still attempt to recognize the sacrifices made by these gallant warriors.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AFSA!!!!

Fifty years ago today, a few enlisted men put their passion for a voice in Congress to work and as Margaret Mead once said: ” Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people  can make a difference”.  The creditability and integrity of YOUR Association in Congress has not waivered a bit and my meeting yesterday with Congressman Tim Waltz reflected the respect that members of Congress have for AFSA.  He has assured me in front of his entire staff, that he will “fight til the end” for repeal of SBP-DIC Offset.  He will also send this week, a tasking to DOD regarding the TYA (TriCare for Young Adults) asking “when, how, and who screwed up”.

We value your past, present, and future service to America, your membership, and your volunteerism.  God Bless America and fifty years of the Air Force Sergeants Association. Respectfully,   Doc

3rd Qtr FY 2011 Reports due to Divison #5 President!!!

Just a quick reminder that your 3rd Quarter FY11 reports (A&A and Financial) for the period covering November and December 2010 (and closing at midnight tonight) will be due to me NLT 10 Jan 11!  Please try and get them to me early.  Remember, all Chapter Presidents must pull their “year end” reports no later than Friday, December 31st before midnight (EST).  After that date and time the reports will not be available and can not be pulled from the AFSA website.  You will need this information to compile information for your recruiting and retention awards and for your reports!!!  Thanks again for everything you have done for Division #5 over the past calendar year!!  I am VERY proud of you all!  Also, we (Division #5, the Sunshine Division) were one of ONLY two Divisions to show a positive growth trend from 2009 to 2010 (we gained about 300 members)!!!   This is quite an accomplishment and one in which you all had a part!  I look forward to 2011 and the challenges that await us – I know you all are certainly up to the task!!!!

Also, as a reminder, if you have already held your elections, please ensure you get me a Directory of Officers ASAP (within 10 days of the election) so I can approve and forward them to AFSA Headquarters!  Have a safe and joyous New Year and may God bless you, your families, and this wonderful volunteer organization!!
