TMC MONTHLY MEETING:

As the summer recess for congress ends on September 13 (Monday), we continue to meet with our partners in The Military Coalition (TMC) –33 strong– to develop strategies for helping Congress with making beneficial decisions affecting military servicemembers.

We are preparing for what is expected to be a full calendar of legislative activities. Though the summer heat will subside, the heat on Capitol Hill will increase, as cost-cutting measures collide with pressing needs for the military member – and his/her loved ones.

(http://afsa554 NULL.org/wp-content/gallery/clip-art/newspaper_3 NULL.gif)2010 AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION PROFESSIONAL AIRMEN’S CONFERENCE (PAC) AND INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

From August 14-18, AFSA hosted a record attendance of AFSA officials, delegates, guests, and staff members in Atlanta, GA.

In addition to hosting numerous Air Force senior leaders, electing association officers, and making governance decisions, the delegates unanimously approved an Open Letter to Congress and to the President opposing the 11th Quadrennial Review Military Compensation (QRMC) recommendation to greatly change (diminish) the military retirement pay system.

The assembly also approved two Resolutions calling on Congress to select a new mid-air refueling tanker for our Air Force and to urge key national leaders to provide oversight of Defense Department plans to significantly increase healthcare costs for military retirees. This has been sent to all elected officials for consideration and action.

DIVISION 5 WINS AFSA PAC’S “SPIRIT AWARD!”

I wanted to thank everyone who participated in the PAC’s “Theme Night” with the theme being, “Party like a Rock Star!”  Your Division #5 walked away with “best in show” and won the coveted “Spirit Award!”  Many thanks to CMSgt Mac McVicor, MSgt Kent Kundert, and everyone who helped us “rock” the dance floor!  Good times were had by all.  Also, thanks to Chapter #553 for donating the guitar centerpiece for our table!  Also, many congratulations to the award nominees and award winners in Division #5!  I was and am proud to be your Division President.  You are ALL winners in my book.  Many thanks to you all for your efforts throughout the year that made you extremely competitive with all AFSA Chapters and members.  Now let’s roll and get our game faces on and get out there and recruit and retain and make it known by all that “Division #5 is CERTAINLY alive!”
